Long before the Macross Space War I, the VF-1 program had successfully introduced the first Variable Fighter known as the VF-0. it was used and tested secretly during 'Macross Zero' over the South Pacific Ocean island of Mayan.
The VF-0A version is a single-seater version with one head-turret-mounted Mauler laser cannon and one Howard GPU-9 35 mm gatling gun pod with 550 rounds. It has 3 variable modes: Fighter, Gerlwalk and Battroid, and is capable of underwater operations in silent mode for up to several minutes.
Max speed (fighter mode): Mach 2.74, Cruising Range: 2075 km.
